Jacó is a city on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, Central America. Belongs to the canton of Garabito and part of the Puntarenas Province, the city boast a population of approximately 15,000 residents.

Jacó has a beach with black sand beach that extend for around 4 km long and offers some surfing options. Jacó climate is normally humid. Temperature is 24–32 °C (75–90 °F) during the day and 24–26 °C (75–79 °F) at night.

Generally speaking, August through early December days are wet, and late December through early April are dry; the rest of the months have irregular rainy activity.

Jacó is surrounded by several mountains, and is closed to the beaches of Herradura Bay to the North, and Playa Hermosa to the South. The Carara National Park is closed to the city and it is recognized for its wildlife and dense rain forest. A few hours away is the Manuel Antonio National Park, another nice and tourist favorite park.

To reach Jacó you need to drive around 2-3 hours from San José, using the 34 and 27 Route or from the Juan Santamaría International Airport.

 

Surfing & Things to do
Jacó beach is perfect for beginner surfers, there are surfing schools and many shops that sell and rent equipment. For experienced surfers there is a short drive to the Hermosa Beach, which is just five minutes away. Jacó is known for its beaches and nightlife, but there are several excursions & activities available in Jacó, such a ATV, horseback riding tours, snorkeling cruises to Tortuga Island, hiking, and ziplining and many more.
